It looks like someone is watching the players park and then breaking into the cars when they go and play. Be careful. Ex: "A couple of weeks ago my friend and one other person got their car broken into at Riverside. My friend pulled his golf clubs out before the game, and then put them in the trunk, and that was the only thing stolen, although he had a couple of other valuable items in his car. The other people got their wallets stolen, probably also in plain view. The person broke into these cars by punching a hole beside the lock, also adding to the cost of redoing the door. Anyway, obviously this person is observing people getting out of cars to play, and since the fields are so far away, no one can see them." ************************************************************ NATIONALS '99 STUFF: Greetings, As you know the '13th Canadian Nationals' are fast approaching (Do YOU feel lucky?) and there has been much talk about some sort of "Ontario Regionals". Personally I do not think that we will need them. With approximately 24+ fields (two sites, 2.5 klicks apart) at our disposal here in Ottawa, we should be able to accommodate every and all of the teams that apply in the five divisions that are offered. Traditionally we (CUPA) have gone with 24 Open (could expand), 16 Women's (haven't reached that figure in three years), 10 Juniors (wishful thinking!), 10 Masters ( A curious/precarious division), and this year... the *ALL NEW* Co-Ed Division (Thanks Joey Gray!) Visit the Nationals web-site: http://www.ocua.ca/nationals/ Also... "A good tournament runs on it's stomach." We will be providing "all you can eat" buffets on both Thursday and Friday nights at Nationals while "showcasing" top "poolplay" matchups for your viewing/heckling enjoyment. I would also like to have an 'EAST vs WEST' guts contest during one of those dinner hours... Any volunteers? (Don't worry we will save you your dinner) I will be putting out these "updates" on Mike Harley's 'Ulti-Happenings' each week before Nationals. Double Disc Court is an exciting game that focuses on throwing. It also doesn't require much running, so it's a perfect game for the Handlers out there *smile*. Rules will be explained before the tournament since most Ultimate players in Ottawa don't know the game yet. This is a great opportunity to learn a new Disc game so grab your sunscreen and come on out! All the proceeds are going to the Flamingoes Sharing Through Scoring charity fund-raiser which is raising funds for The Children's Wish Foundation, The Heart and Stroke Foundation and The Wild Bird Care Center. You can register as a single player or as a team (teams have 2 players). To register or if you have any questions contact: Gavin Thompson e: ffflamingoes@istar.ca or check out the Flamingoes website www.visitweb.com/fff and click on "sharing through scoring". ************************************************************ FREE CLEATS: I have a pair of size 8.5 Nike Sharks, that have been worn once (they hurt my feet). Free to a good home. Contract Larry via email (strick@nortelnetworks.com) Larry Strickland ************************************************************ FOUND: On Thursday July 8th at Riverside on the Northeast field by the bike path I found what appears to be a gold bracelet. I never would have seen it if I hadn't been standing still and looked right at it, so who knows how long it's been there. If you're missing one please contact me. Andre e: dz864@ncf.ca -------------- I found a pair of sandals this past Tuesday July 6 at the sod farm.
