Our coaches are responsible for introducing youth or junior players to the sport of Ultimate with primary emphasis on fun and secondary emphasis on learning and understanding the sport of Ultimate. Coaches must have a basic knowledge of the rules and the ability to lead a team in functional drills while integrating fun games and challenges to assist in skill development.
Our coaches will be managed by our Technical Director, Jeremy Hill. He will work to provide a practice plan each week for the duration of the season and take over the past "convenor" role that each location had. Jeremy will handle all off-field communication with parents. OCUA will be shifting to a "lead coach" at each location who will be responsible for directing players and parents to their appropriate field location and will be required to bring the gear bag each week. Lead coaches will be determined once coaches are scheduled to a specific program.
Responsibilities
- Be available for as many practice nights as possible for the duration of the league
- Lead the practice drills with the help of the other volunteer coaches
- Ensure a fun and safe environment for all players
- Refer parents to Jeremy for any question you are not sure of
Conditions: Per activities involved with age groups in the vulnerable sector, convenors and coaches are required to complete a Criminal Reference Check. If you don't have one, OCUA will provide you with the necessary documents to get one for free.
