Fall Masters Series - Tourney - Distoberfest, Ann Arbor, Mi - Lost - Calendar Of Events ************************************************************ OCUA BOARD OF DIRECTORS ELECTION: It's Election Time Again ! The elections were held last weekend and will also be held next weekend. Each team captain will receive an election package and ONE ballot at the beginning of the day. Over the course of your play-off day, discuss with your team members as to whom you'd like to vote for. PLEASE TRY TO MAKE THIS A TEAM DECISION, not merely leaving it up to the captain to decide There will be a ballot box at the play-off site for you to drop off your ballot. Alternatively, you may give it to the tournament director. As in previous years, each team will vote for FOUR candidates among our 7 nominees. Cory Bowditch Nick Roberts Steve Seabrook Gavin Thompson Jack Webb Valerie Xavier Nalan Yuksel PLEASE VOTE as last year's turn out was less than 60%. If you have any questions, please e-mail the electoral officer (Stephan Suys) at s_suys@hotmail.com Thanks, Stephan Suys -------------- Bios for the candidates are now available on the OCUA website. http://www.ocua.ca/admin/elect2000/allbio.html ************************************************************ JUST A QUICK UPDATE ON PRELIMINARY VOTER TURNOUT: Thankfully, even though the elections were not as well publicize as I would have liked (because I was away...), the early results are positive (ie. better than last year ) [Big Thanks to Jeff and Jawzy Rathburn and Diana Nunes for their help this week-end ] Ballots received : Sat (Monday League) : 39 of 84 (last year 32 of 80 ) Sun (Women's League) : 11 of 20 (last year 11 of 21 ) Given that I plan to aggressively pursue teams who did not submit a ballot to E-vote, I hope to get a better turn-out than last year. ( Last year we had 72 ballots and 78 E-votes ) I also hope to better advertise the election this week for teams playing this up-coming week-end. The E-vote procedure will be as follows: I will E-mail each team captain who has not submitted a ballot, and will ask them to canvass their team for a "collective" decision. [I will ask to be CC'ed on their team e-mail so as to know that each player had a vote rather than leaving the captain decide.] Deadline for all E-votes will be MONDAY Aug 28th at 8:00pm. (this allows Sunday play-off teams to vote on Monday) Results will hopefully be posted shortly thereafter. -------------- PROXIES There had been some discussion about the use of Proxies for this election. I had originally made a proposal to the Board about using Proxies but I quickly dismissed this idea as the election process was already well under way and there were some concerns as to how the proxies would be used. I therefore decided that proxies would not be used in this election, but that the matter would be discussed later. [NB. For teams who had hoped to use proxies (because they would not be available during play-offs), I will do everything possible to get their votes via E-mail] If you have any comments or suggestions, please let me know. Cheers, Stephan ************************************************************ OCUA END OF SUMMER PARTY - SEPT 09: Did you go to Fergus? If so, do you remember the band that played on Friday night? CD exchange (Rob Wormald) is also selling discs - the latest line is the first to feature the Ottawa Disc Golf Club logo. Thanks to Don Lane for the new site, Jon Spratley for the old site, Wah Phung Lu for his artwork (Hybrid Productions), charter members (especially those yet to play the course) and to everyone who's had a good time playing disc golf in this town.
