THE "MATTERHORN MATT" ULTIMATE TOURNAMENT

On February 24, come play in the "Matterhorn" Matt Ultimate 
Tournament to commemorate the life of a special little boy, and 
to benefit the homeless! At only one and a half years of age, 
Matthew Thomas Thorsteinson succumbed tragically to meningitis 
on February 25, 2000. This annual tournament is designed to 
honour and remember the special person "Matterhorn Matt" was, 
and how he touched so many people's lives. Matt's parents, Jeff 
and Janet Thorsteinson, would also like this tournament to 
benefit the homeless and underprivileged in our society.

When?
11:00 p.m. February 24, 2001 to 6:00 a.m. February 25, 2001

What?
The tournament will be run using a weighted "hat" format. There 
will be 12 teams consisting of 10 players each, with 6 players 
(3/3 gender split) on the field at any one time. Teams will be 
competing for bragging rights and a trophy for the individual 
player that exhibits the best SOTG. A prize will also go to the 
player that raises the most pledge money. Each team will play 
three games, with a one-hour bye in between each.

Where?
New indoor facility at Frank Clair stadium.

How?
Here's how to register:

1.	Send an email to: peter.lok@home.com indicating your name, 
address, telephone numbers, email, gender and level of 
experience with ultimate (1-what's Ultimate? to 10-I am an 
Ultimate God!). Couples may register together. 

2.	Spaces will be given out on a first-come-first-served basis, 
so email early!

3.	Then submit your payment ($15 per person) in one of the 
three following ways:
*	by mail to Peter and Kim Lok, 1928 Highridge Ave., Ottawa, 
ON, K1H 5H2
*	in person at 1928 Highridge Ave. (near Lynda Lane), 
telephone 736-8067
*	at Baxter's on Bank Street from 6:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. on 
Friday, February 9, 2001.

1.	Note that no registration is complete until payment has been 
received! At 11:00 p.m. on February 9, the spaces of any 
registrants whose payment has not yet been received will be 
given out to any people on a waiting list.

Donations
Part of your entry fee will go towards the United Way's poverty 
field of service. Players can also donate in two other ways:
*	Gather pledges for donation to the United Way's poverty 
field of service (pledge form provided upon registration).
*	Bring non-perishable food items on the night of the 
tournament for donation to the Ottawa Food Bank.

I just wanted to say that there's a lot of important
information coming up, especially since summer league
registration is fast approaching. So, it is quite important
for you and your teammates to be on the Ultimate Happenings
email list in order to get the information.

Every time I send a post, I get back an average of about 20
emails that bounce (are no longer valid). These are most 
likely the result of people changing where they work, and 
not emailing me an update with their new address. I remove 
those addresses from my list, and after the next post, I get
about 20 more emails that bounce.

So, for all of you who are receiving this message, please 
check with your teammates and friends to see if they are still
receiving UH, especially if they've changed email addresses
recently. I want to make sure that everyone who used to get
this newsletter still gets it! All they have to do is send
me an email from their new address to get back on the list!
