Before we can play there is some work that needs to be done. Based on your membership support here are all the jobs we would like to get done. - We need to cut back on grass overgrowing the irrigation system valve covers. This is an annual job needed for player safety and so we can maintain the system. - We need to build inside signage to identify fields and to convey important information to players. - We have a acquired a large container for on-site storage. It needs some plywood flooring replaced. - We need to do field inspections to make sure they are safe. - We need to paint lines in the parking lot with a line- painting machine to park cars more effectively. - We need to clear some trees where they encroach on the corners of fields 9 & 14. - We need to do a few miscellaneous fields repairs in some areas - We would like individuals or teams to help out. For Individuals: Please just show up on the 11th. If you can, bring water containers and work gloves and also rakes, hand shovels, wheelbarrows or any other tools you think would be useful to get the work done. For Teams: If you have a team that can help on one or more of these projects please contact us at workparty@ocua.ca ************************************************************ COLISEUM TAKE DOWN The Coliseum needs (paid) "volunteers" to help take down the Coliseum this Saturday (May 11th). There are two shifts 9am to 3pm and 2pm until finish (8pm?). "Volunteers" will be paid $10/hr for their time. As with the fall set up of the Coliseum, it is important that Ultimate players get involved with this. Our "volunteering" has gone a long way. It secured us the Tuesday slot we had this year and will help with the new time slots we are negotiating for. The work is a bit tough, but it's a good opportunity to get sweaty with other Ultimate players, other than just the usual chasing around a piece of plastic *smile*. Please come out and help if you can. Contact Gavin Thompson - gavin.thompson@statcan.ca for more information. ************************************************************ WOMEN'S CLINIC FOR ALL SKILL LEVELS Details: Fuse’s Women's Skills Clinic, Saturday, May 18th Beginners (0-2 years experience): 12:00pm-2:00pm Intermediates (2 + years experience): 3:00 pm - 5:00 pm Location: Riverside Park (across from the Riverside Hospital) Ottawa's competitive women's team "Fuse" is organizing a women's ultimate skills clinic on Saturday, May 18th. Bring cleats, a frisbee, and a dark and light shirt (for pick-up scrimmage after each clinic). Feel free to pass along the information. Everyone is welcome!!!!! Even if you've come to clinics in the past, it's always helpful to touch up on skills and see new techniques we're showing this year. If you have any questions contact Nalan at nalan_yuksel@hotmail.com or Alison at alison_lemay@yahoo.ca. Once you’ve honed those skills use them at the Hat Tournament the following day! ************************************************************ WOMEN’S HAT TOURNAMENT Date: Sunday, May 19 Time: 10:30 am - 5:00pm Location: Riverside Park Cost: $8 per person Register with: alison_lemay@yahoo.ca : Please give your name, contact info (email address and phone number), and rate your ability level, 1-5 (1=beginner, 3=intermediate player; 5=expert). Competitive players, past and present, will also be playing and will act as coaches. We will meet at 10:30am to get everyone into their teams, and start playing at 11:00am! All levels of players are welcome. Again, bring cleats, a frisbee, and a dark and a light shirt. See you there!
