(328 teams and 3800 members in 2002) http://www.ocua.ca/ "If you never lose then you can never appreciate the victories." ---Laura Twitchell ************************************************************ CONTENTS: - Summer 2003 Information - Thursday Night Indoor Ultimate - Subs List - Update: uottawa.ca Email Accounts! - Have You Ever Thought About Hosting A Student? - Rental Accommodations ************************************************************ SUMMER 2003 INFORMATION Team fees for the 2003 summer season will be unchanged at $950. Changes for 2003 will include an individual online player registration system that will require all members of OCUA to sign in, this will include those waiting to get on a team, as well as members of teams on the waiting list. This is being created because the City now requires us to provide accurate members, and waiting lists in order to be considered for facilities allocations. It will also become necessary for our insurance. It is also needed as OCUA will be requiring all of its members to sign player consent forms. OCUA wants to move toward a member numbering system that will allow us to more easily identify you, and allow you easier interaction with the Association. Other major changes for 2003 are the reduction of Monday nights to 80 teams from 88. This reduction will hopefully be achieved through a natural attrition of the returning teams. For 2002, only 80 of the 88 returning teams signed up by the reserved spot deadline. If more than 80 sign up in time, SOTG and incidents recorded during the 2002 summer season will be used to help decide who will get the spots. There will be a reduction in the women's division to 20 teams from 22, and the introduction of an 8 team men's division on Thursdays. Currently OCUA has 36 fields on each of our four main nights. We are still waiting to hear what the City will allow us to have, but do not really expect anything. We are attempting to find more fields; please help if you can. The issue of priority is resolved as follows; returning teams will have the same rights as last year, next will be returning teams wishing to change nights, of these priority will go to Friday teams. Finally new teams will get their shot. Do not attempt to register online just yet as the web monkeys are still hard at work on getting everything set up. There will be a general dumping of current info before the new system goes in, so if you do it before being told its ready, you will have to do it again. More info will follow. If you can't wait, then feel free to post your pressing questions on the OCUA Open Forum and I will answer as soon as I can. Nick ************************************************************ THURSDAY NIGHT INDOOR ULTIMATE - SUBS LIST Anyone wishing to sub for Thursday night ultimate at the Carleton fieldhouse should e-mail Colin at spenceitup@hotmail.com with their contact info and any other relevant information such as skill level. Players who are not on the sub list will not be allowed to pick up. The purpose of maintaining a sub list is to maintain balance between teams within the division and to ensure quality, competitive games. Games times are from 6:00 to 11pm. The Carleton facility does not allow cleats on the turf. Indoor field footwear is required. ************************************************************ UPDATE: UOTTAWA.CA EMAIL ACCOUNTS!
