I had set out to write such an article for this issue of Ultimate Happenings, but in the process determined that it was getting a little lengthy for inclusion here. So, I've opted to put it on the web site: http://www.ocua.ca/fields/info/sf_status.html I urge everyone to go have at least a quick browse of this important information. There are details of the sod farm rezoning process, the city's search for replacement fields, and a quick summary of some related processes. There is also information on what OCUA has been working on on their own, and a few facts regarding the current numbers of fields and their allocations. Hopefully this will help you to be informed. We will continue to update the page as developments occur. If you have any questions, don't hesitate to contact our General Manager, Nick Roberts, or myself. Cheers! Ken Lange OCUA President president@ocua.ca ************************************************************ FIELDS CELL VOLUNTEERS The BoD would like to put out a request for volunteers interested in sitting on a Fields Cell. This cell would report to the existing BoD Facilities Cell, and would be centered around the obtaining and maintaining of all of our outdoor facilities. Activities would be diverse, including but not limited to the following broad categories: - planning maintenance for UPI and Sod - coordinating searches for field space - developing/researching proposals for potential new field projects - interacting with city staff on fields issues - investigating possible private sector deals - coordination of political efforts Any interested members are encouraged to apply. Applicable experience in these areas should be noted, but is not necessary. Please send your application to volunteer@ocua.ca, and copy Nick Roberts at gm@ocua.ca. Thanks, BoD Facilities Cell Ken Lange, Gavin Thompson, Nick Roberts ************************************************************ REAPPOINTMENT OF PRESIDENT 2003-02-11 From: Hollie Last, Secretary of OCUA Board of Directors At the 6th meeting of the OCUA Board of Directors held 2003- 02-11, members reappointed Mr. Ken Lange as President until 2003-12-31 in a secret ballot process. Mr. Lange has been President of OCUA since Sept. 2000. The next election for President will occur in December, 2003. Further information can be found in the minutes from the 6th meeting of the OCUA Board of Directors (to be available shortly), or by contacting the Communications Cell communications@ocua.ca ************************************************************ WANTED: HELP FOR OCUA'S WEB SITE! The OCUA web site is currently undergoing a make over and I'm looking for players who are interested in joining a working group. The plan is to launch the "new site" by May 1st. If you are interested in helping out, please contact me directly at communications@ocua.ca. Looking forward to hearing from you!
