OCUA SPRING PICK-UP

Although Winter seems like it is never going to end, OCUA 
spring pickup is right around the corner!

Pick-up is at the University of Ottawa real turf field. The 
cost is $5. Someone will be there to collect the money from 
each player.

The times available are:
Monday April 14th from 7 to 10pm
Saturday April 19th from 12 to 4pm
Sunday April 20th from 12 to 4 pm
Monday April 21st from 7 to 10pm
Sunday April 27th from 12 to 4pm
Monday April 28th from 7 to 10pm

These times are weather dependant. The University of Ottawa 
has the right to cancel field time due to weather.

OCUA reminds you to please stay off the grass fields until 
league starts and that absolutely no alcohol is permitted on 
University of Ottawa property. If alcohol is found during 
any OCUA session the contract will be terminated.

CO-ED TRYOUTS

The Yet To Be Named Coed team that was formed by merging 
Sweet As and the Fabulous Flamingoes is holding tryouts at 
the University of Ottawa fields and the Carleton University 
Complex. 

The team is looking for highly motivated skilled players who 
want to play on a team whose main focus is winning 
Nationals. Sweet As and the Flamingoes tied for 7th at last 
year's Nationals and the combination of these two teams will 
form a very strong nucleus for this team to build around. 

These teams both had a lot of fun last season, and that 
won't be changing, but with the talent pool available to 
Coed ultimate in Ottawa this team should be able to put in a 
very strong run for the Championship. 

The team will practice twice weekly (Tuesdays and Thursdays) 
and will attend roughly 8 tournaments in the summer, with 
the possibility of more in the fall. 

If there is enough interest, a second team will be formed at 
the same time. The goal of this team will be to develop as 
players to eventually make the top coed, women's and open 
teams in the city. But again, this will depend on interest. 

What the team is looking for is dedication, skill and/or raw 
athleticism and a strong mental attitude. 

The dates are:
*Thursday April 17th 7-8:30pm Ottawa U*
Thursday April 24th 8:30-10pm Ottawa U
Saturday April 26th 12-2pm Ottawa U
Thursday May 1st 7-8:30pm Ottawa U
Tuesday May 6th tbd 2 hours Carleton University 

*The April 17th date is a little less formal, but people are 
still encouraged to come. It will be a light night to get 
everyone back into the swing of things. 

TUT will also be used to evaluate talent. We are planning on 
taking two teams to this tournament. 

Cost for tryouts will depend on the number of people 
interested. Most likely $15 total for all the dates. 

It is expected that a lot of players will also be trying out 
for Phoenix and Fuse, whose tryouts are quite often run back 
to back with these tryouts. This will be tiring and will be 
taken into consideration, so please let us know if you are 
trying out for those teams as well.

SLEEMAN'S CHEO BBQ & ONE-DAY ULTIMATE TOURNAMENT

Bring your team out to the SLEEMAN'S CHEO BBQ & ONE-DAY 
ULTIMATE TOURNAMENT ...and start the year off right!

Last year we pretty much booked up the tourney, and it was a 
resounding success!  This year, we're trying to make room 
for more teams.

Get your team stoked for a One-Day Ultimate Tournament & 
Barbecue! Start the summer off with a great day in the sun!

~~~~~~~~~ WHO WILL BE THERE? ~~~~~~~~~
- your team to start with
- 24 (or more) other coed (4/3) Ultimate league teams 
  participating in a round-robin tourney
- tons of other people as a volleyball tourney will also be 
  going on
- spectators watching your game and watching Ultimate be 
  played the way it's supposed to be 

~~~~~~~~~ WHEN IS IT? ~~~~~~~~~
- Saturday, June 7th
- what a great way to start the summer off right and you'll 
  be there at the beginning, the first tourney!
- games play from 9:30am ­ 7:00pm
- music and the beer tent until 11:00pm

~~~~~~~~~ WHAT WILL WE GET? ~~~~~~~~~
- your team will play a minimum of (3) games during the day
- you'll get to play in a round robin Ultimate tournament
- you'll get free lunch and drink
- FREE MASSAGES to all athletes who want 'em (that's you!)
- there's even a kids zone for your breaks should you have 
  wee ones
- bands playing all day and into the night to add to the 
  festive sunny party
- BIG, BEAUTIFUL BEER GARDEN where you can party and cool 
  off after your glorious wins!

- $220 for the team (a team is anywhere from 10 to 16 
  players)
- "ALL" the money goes to the Children's Hospital of Eastern 
  Ontario (CHEO)
- the location is on soccer fields in the east end at 
  Shefford Park by Montreal Road behind the  Potvin Arena

WORLD'S BIGGEST

I'm pleased to announce a brand new tournament to Ottawa, 
which already has OCUA, The World's Biggest Ultimate League.  
It's a world-wide disc golf tournament known as WORLD'S 
BIGGEST which will be held on Sunday, May 4th, 2003.

Our edition of this tournament will feature the BEST PLAYER 
PACKS ever seen at an Ottawa tournament, with the value of 
the packs in excess of the entry fees.

Many thanks to tournament sponsors CD Exchange (The Ultimate 
Disc Golf Store), Daredevil Discs, Disc Golf Stuff, and 
Circular Productions.

There will be three divisions, "Open", "Intermediate", and 
"Novice", each with their own distinct Player Pack, as 
outlined on the tournament web site:

The tournament will be held on the north end of the course, 
using the popular «Triple Crown» format for the top two 
divisions, and a Red-Blue-Red teeoff format for the Novices.

A special prize will be awarded to whoever brings the most 
new people to the tournament, so if you haven't played at a 
recognized tournament at Jacques Cartier Park in the past 
three years, please let us know who encouraged you to come 
to the tournament.

Other prizes, including 'How to Play' videos, golf discs, 
ball caps, shirts, etc... will be awarded for various best 
drives and CTP (closest to pins) competitions in the three 
divisions.

32 player packs have been ordered from the central 
organizers, and will go to the first players to register and 
pay, either in advance or at the tournament. A re-order will 
be done if necessary for entries which arrive later than
