SECOND ANNUAL TURKEY BOWL

Sunday Oct. 11th

In lieu of league games this Thanksgiving the People's Republic
of Ultimate Frisbee will hold the Second Annual 'Turkey Bowl'
starting at 10 am on the Lynda Lane Fields.

The player fee for this tournament is FREE, and is open to
ALL Ultimate players.

Team selections like the 'Fall Equinox' tournament will be
'Hat' (i.e.. players are selected out of a hat for a random
mix).

There are two ways to register
1) Call 231-6530 and ask for Jack Webb
2) E-mail 668prouf@sympatico.ca

Send me your name, sex and fall league team.

If you don't have a Thanksgiving dinner this Sunday (or even
if you do!) this is your chance to eat big. The winning team
will have a fully catered turkey dinner served at field site
immediately after the finals. (A rain site for the meal is
also available.) If you cannot stay you can proxy your spot

FIRST ANNUAL OTTAWA OPEN WIND UP:

Congratulations to Claus Reitlingshoefer and Stephanie Chow.
The Mens and Women's Champions at this year's Ottawa Open!!!
They had the honour of wearing the coveted Plaid Jackets after
36 holes.

I'm glad to say that the 1st Annual Ottawa Open was a huge
success. A total of 41 participants came out on Saturday for
some great golf. The best part of the day was the weather,
+13C, sunny and no wind. I had tried to play all week but the
winds refused to die until Saturday. We also raised $280 for
the Ottawa Disc Golf Club!!! Let's double that number next year.

Some notable mentions before the final standings, there were
a few extra events also being conducted during the Open.
Most Birdies Pool - Paul Holland
Closest to the Hole - Danny Stables
Longest Putt Competition - Ken Lange

The Standings
Only complete game scores (36 holes) are listed below.
(If I get enough responses I'll get the rest of the scores
up in the next few days)

* Men's Champion
** Women's Champion
*** Overall Chumpion. Come on I thought we were going for
high score, my arm hurt, I used a Discraft the whole time,
I didn't know the course. Awww forget it. Just you wait til
next year.

Any comments would be welcome. Lets use our first Open as a
learning experience so each tourney will get better and better.
My first comment is next year there will be food and water.
18 holes is fine but at the end of 36 holes people were thinking
more about the pub than there golf game. My second suggestion
will be to hold the tourney over two days with four divisions:
Mens, Women's, Ultrastar and Youth. This way everyone will have
better competition and the groups won't so big. Let me know if
you have any ideas.

I'll see everyone next year! Steve Seabrook

WEEKLY DISC GOLF:

I forgot to mention... I still want to play some competitive
disc golf this fall. I'm thinking of going out once a week
with a group, tossing a twoonie into a pot and winner takes
all.

First round will be Monday, October 12 at 11:00am.

Who is up for some golf?
