PAULS UPDATE: Hey all, As you may or may not have heard, the OCUA's relationship with St. Paul's is rather tenuous at the moment, due to our players abusing our privileges there, albeit unwittingly, I'm sure. As a result, I would just like to pass the following info from our website on to make you aware of what is NOW expected of us at St. Paul's, in order that we don't lose this valuable site. Even if you are a veteran, please read them, as some things have changed. Also, please pass these on to any other ultimate players that you know, in hopes that we can spread the word quickly. In addition, I'd also like to remind you NOT to play on league fields prior to the season. Some are not ready, and some (such as Lynda Lane) are not legally available for our use before then. St. Paul's is one of our most important sites, and being private property, we are allowed to play there only by their grace. As a result, it is imperative that we observe any conditions that their administration wishes to place upon us. DO NOT break the following rules. Teams failing to meet these conditions risk possible expulsion from the league. Use of these fields is restricted to LEAGUE SCHEDULED GAMES ONLY! Do not play on these fields at any other time! (NO practices/NO pickup!) Park ONLY in the lot just south of the lights at Herridge. - Do not park on the driveway between the two front fields. - Do not park anywhere around the main building. (Even if you are at the back field... drop off your stuff if you have to, but park out front.) St. Paul's is a religious college. As such, behavior should be governed accordingly. - Alcoholic beverages are strictly prohibited. - Please try to refrain from using coarse language. - Be especially careful about not playing when field conditions are questionable. - Basically, just use common sense. Respect any request made to you by the St. Paul's staff. This is their facility, not ours, and they deserve our respect. Thanks for your help! Cheers! Ken ************************************************************ MEN'S LEAGUE UPDATE: Well, I've had lots of individual interest for the Thursday Men's League, but currently I'm only standing at 3 teams. We'd really like to get this league up and running, so I'd ask that some of you individuals who have expressed interest, (or some of you who haven't) try to form teams of your own. Remember that being a new league, team fees are only $500. We need a minimum of 4 teams to make the league a go, but it would be a lot more fun with 6 or 8. Please contact me ASAP if you think you can assemble a team. I'm also thinking of putting the individuals who have made inquires together as a team of their own - if anyone would be willing to captain it, please let me know. Thanks! To give yo a bit of a history lesson (please yawn now), we then moved on as Roadkill Restaurant from 1989-1992, Grope of Seven in 1993, Mufferaw Joe in 1994, and finally, Voodoo Lovedolls in 1995. This year, we're looking to rebuild around our returning veterans, focusing on competitive ultimate while still aiming for a lot of fun. We're looking at a 6 tournament schedule (Toronto, Hanover, Rochester, Montreal, Ottawa, & Nationals), as well as our ever-popular trip to Poultry Days as a relaxation-type tournament. We definitely have some openings this year, and so if your interested in traveling this summer, feel free to contact us. Tryouts are currently scheduled as follows, weather permitting: Thursday, April 29, 6:00pm & Sunday, May 2, 1:00pm Both tryouts will be held at Jacques Cartier Park - check out the website if you need directions to the fields. If you do intend to try out, please contact me if you can, so that we can get an idea of possible numbers. Thanks, and hope to see you on the fields! (EDITORS NOTE: WE REALLY DO NOT WANT ANYONE PLAYING OR PRACTICING ON LEAGUE FIELDS UNTIL THE SEASON STARTS. PLEASE HAVE THIS PRACTICE ON THE SOCCER FIELD AT THIS SITE NOT ON THE AREA WE HAVE LEAGUE GAMES ON.) Cheers!
