Pirate Tradecenter

As a former Parity GM and current owner of a new peg leg, I’ve always enjoyed the trade cap weeks. So I thought I would share some predictions as to which GM will be forced to make their players walk the plank to shed some of that league cap gold. I have to preface my predictions with the fact that I have not discussed with any of the GMs, seen any of the games or even knowing who is the GM of Idol Hands.

So there are the sellers, namely Pew-Pew and In-bound throws to Frisbee pro’s (hereby named “pros) who were much too proficient in kicking butt. Plus Monster Peninsula which did not win a game, but has to sell a couple players. Then Wowzer’s who won both their games yet somehow is only a 3.4k above the cap.

Pew-Pew
There salaries seem to be inflated since Allan and Jim seem to be catching Jessie’s throws. In another turn of events that wasn’t seen in the first session, Geofford seemingly remembered that he is good at ultimate and put up great numbers his first two weeks. All the other players on the team are just being overall solid and keeping turnovers to a minimum. So now Jessie has to cut 163k of salary. So basically everyone will be on the trading block. I think she will look to move Christine Beals, who has a nice big salary despite not having played a game yet. However, Jessie still has to make a few moves on top of that to even come close to cap, so she may be saying goodbye to Simon, Jim and Nick. I feel Allan is safe for now, since Heather has no cap space to buy him back for a ridiculous price.

Pros
The pros will be looking to move their whale Mike Lee. They were able to win without him last week, so this would be the easiest way to get within the cap space. Perhaps he’ll go to Strangely Charmed for Jon Rowe. Unfortunately, the pros will lose their pro and must change their team name.

Strangely Charmed

They should get Mike Lee so he can carry the team with all his glorious talent. #bestlee

OB throws

They got some cap space, so they may look to upgrade a couple guys. Probably move Barford to Pew and pick up one of their big salary guys. Brian only cares about offence, so look for him to make a move for someone that can catch all his swill, probably Jim since I reckon Jessie will keep Allan and Geofford might decrease the amount Brian gets to touch the disc.

Monster

They are sitting 24k above the cap. Al is willing to trade most people. Look for him to move one or two of his top salaries on his team to Idol hands. One fair trade I can see him pushing is Lumley for Hodgson. However, I think Idol Hands will veto this since Owen is awesome and very affordable at 60k. So Al will settle to give Tim for Briggs. Then move a bit more salary by moving Michael Wong or parity journeyman Jamie Wildgen.

Teaching Idol

No trade necessary. Mehmet will help someone out with a trade if necessary, but don’t expect much of a roster shake up.

Wowzer’s

They only got to make a small move to be within cap, so will be looking for Ben or Jon to be on the chopping block. I could also see Sully moving Neena (who has yet to play), but don’t know who would take her salary (Idol hands?).

Idol Hands

I’m guessing this team is gonna play a bit of hardball and look to move their two guys who have yet to play. Namely Rob Tyson and Ryan Briggs. Briggs enjoys being traded before he plays a game at the start of the session which he did twice in session 1. So would be nice to meet his wishes and keep this trend going. Although I see Pros, Monster and Pew-Pew offering many different offers to get Lumley or Laura Storey.

No one loves predictions based on speculation more than me so, cheers, and "Arrr Matey, that be some mighty fine speculatin' dar." I made the exact same observation, that Geofford has finally remembered he's good at frisbee and posted the numbers to back it up.

If the Mike Lee trade follows your prediciton, would the team be re-named, Strange-Lee Charmed? Edit: MIke Lee was there last week when the Pros won and posted spectacular numbers, he was absent this week and the Pros had a very narrow loss without him (a couple more points and it would've been Mike Who?).

Mehmet never trades. Anyone. Ever.

I thought without Mike Lee this week, they called themselves Strangly Charmed (hereby named "Stranglers")

An alternative headline.

Enjoying this speculation - actual results when revealed Friday may surprise as some salaries were updated to adjust for possible inaccuracies due to missed games, which had cap implications.

I'm not sure how being below my average in goals and being one teachable moment shy of Mehmet's current output qualifies as backing anything up. Y'all might think I'd forgotten that I might have once thought that I'd been good at frisbee, but the truth of the matter is that being good at something and riding coattails aren't really the same.

As and 2As aren't made by throwers, they're made by cutters - so if you need someone to give credit to, look no farther than Jim, Allan, and Alisha who've bailed me out on my ambitious throw choices so far this session.

As the league expert on "parity whales", I think it's important to your readers that I correct your miss-use of that term in your very nice post. Mike Lee may be a lot of things (i.e. the best Lee, good a frisbee, not very tall) but a whale is not one of them. A whale is a term for a player that you would not want covering other players in the same salary range. Of course since Mike has nobody in his salary range, I appreciate why you might want to borrow the term. Instead I suggest we need a new term for a player who's salary is so much bigger than everyone else. I suggest we use the term "unicorn". After all, his salary would idicate that Mike is a mythical player that has no equal in the league when in fact I think there are a few players that could give him a bit of a challenge (i.e. Hadrian, Owen).

A whale is a whale is a whale, salary-wise. (Sure, there's actually living up to it, but let's not let reason and logic in here.)

Why can't he be both a whale and a unicorn?

Narwhal.

Mike was amazing for us, but our team held our own without him and frankly, I was terrified at how good Mike was without ever breaking a sweat in our first game. Since I plan on raking in a similar salary this session (ha!) and am untradeable, I thought I should get rid of our top dollar before it become too much money to move.

So we subbed the narwhal for a dolphin, Kenzie. But it was wonderful to see what really good at frisbee looks like for a game!

Also, I don't think I am ever buying back Allan. Jessie has marked her territory. and I think her and Jim are looking into possible brother-husband possibilities. I just can't compete with Jessies' huck. #notahandler.

So I may have missed on a few of my predictions. Mike Lee went to Idol hands instead of Strangely Charmed. Strangely Charmed and Wowzers seemingly didn't trade anyone and Mehmet traded away Bo for Will Reid. Overall, I feel pretty content with predicting trades. I feel that the GMs may be privy to information I do not have access to since the updated stats server have only two teams within the designated cap space.

I have to respect Seb's designation of Mike Lee as a unicorn isntead of a whale since he is our resident cetologist (person who studies whales). But I like characterizing him as a narwhal because although he has the ability of a super powered olympian winning a marathon while running backwards, he still has the highest salary in the league by a solid 25k. We will see if he can keep performing while having to play with plugs like Chris Keates.

Mostly, I would like to aplogize for hastily stating that Geofford's talent is finally reflected by his larger salary. Geofford has subsequently corrected me on that matter and I will never again question is mediocre ability to sport. I look forward to future speculations and see what the next week will bring!

On the plus side, we get to determine who the best Lee is by direct comparison! In theory. Hopefully both Mike and Owen show up next week to duke it out for the most points on my roster (before I blow my team up), so we can settle the debate. Sadly this week I have a lone Lee, meaning they will be both the worst and the best Lee at the same time.

Forever Lonelee...
