Game summaries

All the Single Bladies (Al) (22) vs. JT Got Us Fallin' in Love (Morgan) (20)

The Single Bladies rebounded from last week’s tough loss to pull out a gutsy win over Team Morgan. The teams traded leads six times and neither led by more than two goals in a tense match that went down to the wire. The decisive moment came after stifling defense from Mike Lee forced a Lance Blackstock turnover. Paul Klippenstein found a streaking Ethan Brady for the break. Lee put in another strong performance (4G, 4A) despite 4 throwaways. Alisha Zhao (3G, 2A) and GM Morgan Howard (4G, 3A) played well in the loss.

Love Aggietually (MAnge) (18) vs. When Cranky met Cara (Mehmet) (16)

Last-placed Love Aggietually needed some good news tonight and they got it in a low-scoring win over Team Mehmet. Marie-Ange trailed by four early in the game but fought back to tie the game at 9s at half. Justine Price took control late in the game, throwing one and catching two of Love Aggietually’s last three scores to seal the deal. Cory Boucher (5G, 1A) and Heather Wallace (2G, 4A) played well for Mehmet but couldn’t contain Mat Landry (4G, 2A). Love Aggietually’s possession-style offense was on full display as they completed 217 passes on the night.

Date Night: Neena Yo Biswas (Sully) (23) vs. Be My Frisbae (Laura) (24)

#Team1Bias was finally put to rest in a thrilling game that saw Team Laura fight back from a late 20-22 deficit to win 24-23. With the game tied at 22-22, it was an untimely Colin Scarffe throwaway that turned the tide. Allan Godding took control in a sequence that ended in him throwing to Mike O’Hare for the goal that gave Laura the lead. Scarffe was otherwise excellent on the night (5G, 4A), but it wasn’t enough to hold off the one-two punch of Kelsey Charie (6G, 2A) and Travis Davidson (3G, 5A). Shubho Bo Biswas managed only 3 assists in the loss to fall further behind on the leaderboard.

Ratioxoxo (Kindha) (23) vs. How to Lose a Disc in 10 Stalls (Brian) (24)

Team Brian fell into an 0-4 hole early but stayed focused and clawed back to 12-12 at half. The teams traded leads in the second half but Kindha was holding serve until a breathtaking layout block from Graham Brown on an errant Jim Robinson bail pass turned the tide. Marcus Bordage scored the break and Team Brian hung on to pull out the win. GM Perry (2G, 9A) was in fine form on the evening with Bordage (6G, 1A) his favourite receiver. Jessie Robinson (3G, 2A) and Katie Achtell (4G, 1A) played well for Kindha in the loss.

Reason to love Ottawa #40 (Nat) (24) vs. The First Cut is the Deepest (Julia) (18)

It was a game that looked close until the mostly-lefty Team Julia ran out of steam in the second half. Patrick Kenzie had a handful of uncharacteristic errors that allowed Team Nat to go on a 9-2 run to end the game. Tom Newman (3G, 4A) was on top of his game for Nat with support from Nicholas Aghajanian (4G, 3A) and Josee Guibord (4G, 1A). Hannah Lewis (5G, 0A) had another strong cutting game for Julia while a resurgent Geofford Seaborn (3G, 5A) led from the back.
