Player playing with a cast

Hi

A player on my team recently broke one finger on his left hand. He will have to wear a cast for a few weeks, but he still wants to play and has the ‘go-ahead’ from his doctor to play sports. Is there a rule against players playing with a cast? Can the other team ask me to bench him?
