Sliding on the knees

Hello!

I hoping for some clarity in regards to travelling and sliding on the knees when catching. The following happened in our game to play and I'm not sure if our team made the right call or even if there should be a call at all.

The reviver caught the Frisbee and in doing so fell to his knees and continued to slide approximately 6 feet, it would be hard to say if he caught while he was still up or if he caught it after failing to his knees but for argument sake we'll say he call it mid fall and therefore his knees touched the ground after he caught. He then threw the Frisbee before he came to complete stop (he was still sliding).

Our team on the field called violation for not allowed to throw from the knees, but as I understand you could technical throw from knees as long as it's clear that is your established pivot point. However because he was still in motion (read sliding on his knees) when he began the throw the Frisbee a pivot with a single point on the ground had yet to be established after the third ground contract (2 feet 2 knees =4).

How would this be called in a refereed gamed? If any call it all it would be travel I would think but that may not be the case.

Thanks for the clarity!
