ABOUT THE PROGRAM

Ottawa Juniors Competitive Ultimate Program (OJCUP) aims to grow and support competitive Ultimate for junior players in the Ottawa area. We recruit junior age players, aged 13-18 years old (born 2007-2012), to join competitive junior teams and we train in the spring and summer season with the aim to represent Ontario at the Canadian Ultimate Championships (CUC) National tournament in August. In 2025, CUC Juniors will be held in Edmonton, AB, Aug. 10-13, 2025.

OJCUP operates under the rules set out by Ultimate Canada, the governing body for the sport of Ultimate in Canada, and in association with the Ottawa-Carleton Ultimate Association (OCUA). We are a member of the OCUA Competitive Alliance.

OJCUP is a not-for-profit organization run by a group of dedicated volunteers fulfilling administrative and coaching duties.

PROGRAM MISSION: If you are between the ages of 13 and 18 years old and you love Ultimate, you might be interested in playing on one of Ottawa's Junior Competitive Ultimate teams representing the city in local, regional, national and international (US) tournaments.
     • Junior Women Program: Wicked (Wicked West, Wicked East, and Ruby)
     • Junior Open Program: Ottawa Juniors Open Ultimate (Ignite, Scorch, Blaze, and Fuel)

PERFORMANCE OBJECTIVE: The summer season promises many great opportunities: highly experienced coaches, local tournaments, Ontario Regional competitions, and the chance to compete in the junior division at the Canadian Ultimate Championships in Edmonton, AB, August 10-13, 2025.

OUR TEAMS
The focus for each of our teams is based on the Ultimate Canada Long-Term Athlete Development (LTAD) model. Athletes entering our program are at one of two stages of the development pathway: Stage 4: Train to Play (ages 11-16) or Stage 5: Train to Compete (ages 15-19).

Learn more about the LTAD here.

ADVANCED COMPETITIVE TEAMS: West, East, Ignite, and Scorch are OJCUP's advanced competitive teams. Most players on these teams are in Stage 5 of the LTAD pathway. Teams will practice twice per week and attend 4-6 tournaments with travel to the USA, Ontario Regionals, and probably Nationals. Players on these teams will require a passport by mid-May in order to attend the Pioneer Valley Invitational Tournament in Massachusetts, USA.
