Parity - Week 8 Highlights

Did all of you work out over the holidays? Normally the first week back in a winter is full of slow, bad, slightly fat frisbee. This was anything but.

Callahan: David O'Connor got a callahan. He was fast and did a thing. The thing he did was good and resulted in a callahan.

Alex Bush is also credited for a callahan but this is dumb and wrong and will be fixed in the stats POST HASTE! EDIT: FIXED

Worst Throw: Al Worst Throwlantonio threw at the ceiling. It is a testament to her quality as a receiver that Kirsten Querbach almost rewarded him for his efforts.

Worst D: Khalid Al-Zahrani macked a disk so hard it flew exactly vertical before blading back in to the hands of the receiver he was trying to cover. Khalid Al-Zahrani also macked a disk out the sideline when it was catchable. Thing is, he was in the end zone at the time.

Khalid, this is how you end up under the Worst D headline and not the Callahan headline. Catch your D's!

Cornering the 'D' Market: Owen Lumley and myself both had 5 D's, because we love the D. Jessie Robinson had 4, and so did Brian Kells and Jeremy Bryan because they love the D, too. But not as much as Owen and I!

The 100%ers: Jim Robinson is no longer perfect at catching! This means the only two players running 100% are:

  • Rob Tyson
  • Steve Close

Throw Aways!:Thank you Al, Megan, Jessie, Bush, Brent, Kells, Sully, Fred, Ian, Wildgen, Katie, Kindha, Kyle (v. sick), Nick T, Rob Ives, Seb Bernard and Will for all having more throw aways than me this week. Special thanks to Jessie for overtaking me on the throw aways leaderboard. Now I'm only second best! EDIT: adding Justine, Sina, Pepper, Tim Kealey and Mehmet to my list of thank-yous this week.

And finally...

Worst Chirp: Graham Brown

Graham gets a special mention here for heckling stats keepers while they were stats keeping, despite having zero volunteer points. Graham, you have enjoyed free cookies and stats keeping for 8 games this season. When you speak to stats keepers you address them with sir or ma'am.

What about Ashlin with a mind blowing 10 goals caught in the endzone! Ka-boom! Her team scored 16 points total.

So in my defense, I didn't notice that because the last game's stats were delayed because of a minor spreadsheet issue.

10 goals is remarkable. Way to go, Ashlin.

Agreed! Kudos to Ashlin for her continued dominance in the endzone and elsewhere on the field!

My D's were for the crowd... Throwaways because Justine is back and I can't have her overtake me. Keates is just collateral damage.

Guess my pillow talk is going to change now that Jim no longer has the coveted 100% catch rate

Trevor Stocki scored all the points last night. He nearly doubled his season's salary increase in a single game.

Kyle Sprysa played sick, and by this I mean his play was sick, brah. Also he may have puked at the dome.

Justine Price is back from injury hopefully for good! Hurray!

Kris 'Birdman' Bergman was 11 and 2 for his offensive +/-, which is a little ridiculous.

And Jim Robinson who was 13 and 2 on Defense!

I think Owen Lumley deserves a shout-out too for not only getting a triple-triple (G, A, D), but was one assist shy of getting a quintuple-quintuple.

1 assist shy of the coveted 5by5 (G,A,2A,3A,D).  If only Geofford could catch!

Unfortunately he only throws assists, and by that only hammer assists.  Anything else might as well be a turnover...wait!
